I bought this as a gift for my mom. My mother absolutely loved it--even more so than more-expensive jewelry items I gave her (other gifts on the same occassion)!!!

I would say it is very nice and fashionable. It seems well made too. Note that the dragon is not completely black though (but fairly close)--I guess since it is mother-of-pearl, it has slightly lighter colors in it on some parts (I am sure this probably vary with each piece) and has that sort of reflective iridescent appearance.

I would definitely recommend this pendant as it has made my mother incredibly happy and it is definitely an eye-catcher (I found myself looking at it all the time too). Unfortuneately for me though, my mom loves this so much that now she wants some matching earrings which I have had no luck in finding.

My complaint concerns the misleading Product Description of the elements that make up this pendant. According to this Description, the white Mother-of-Pearl is supposed to be "iridescent", a quality which is also shown in the photograph; but there is no iridescence at all on the pendant that I received. Also, the pendant's bale as well as the clasp on the cord are supposed to be made from "tarnish-resistant rhodium-plated sterling silver"; yet both bale and clasp were very tarnished, almost black in fact, so I suppose the "rhodium-plating" step was just skipped. Plus, the cord is junky, but for some reason I was expecting that.

The reason I gave this item four stars despite all of the above is because it is still an attractive pendant: the mother-of-pearl, although not colorful, instead has a glowy quality reminiscent of a moonstone; the bale may not be "rhodium-plated", but it is still sterling and can be easily cleaned with a jeweller's cloth; and of course the junky leather cord can be replaced with a nice silver chain. Plus, the price is reasonable.

Finally, a warning to anyone intending to purchase this pendant as a gift: the "sueded" pouch containing the pendant is covered in some kind of residue (most of it appears to be hair or beard trimmings, and the rest seems to be some kind of sediment). I suggest ordering this pendant and fixing up all the problems at home before giving it to someone else.

Despite all of these problems the pendant is easily salvageable and quite attractive; but since I've purchased something that is so obviously intentionally mis-portrayed, I feel like I've been had.
